The first quarter of 2021 is in the books. It’s time for a bit of reflection so we can tweak our plans for the future.
First the numbers.
We gained 4 new clients. Two of them are still in the launch process. Exciting to see what’s coming up.
Tech Out Loud launched on February 11. This is a partnership with Process Street, the software we use to keep all of the SoundAdvice clients episodes on track.
Andrew Moses, the host of Everybody Pulls the Tarp, was referred to us by Rebecca Smith, our very first podcast client! She’s heading to her 4 year anniversary and is publishing every week. Thanks Rebecca.
Here’s how Andrew describes his show: Each week I talk to Olympians, pro athletes, CEOs, elite coaches, bestselling authors, and other high-performers to uncover their secrets to success.
Andrew’s podcast is nearing one year of publishing. He has interviewed some amazing people. He had been handling all the aspects of his podcast (in great style) and asked us to take over the editing piece starting in March.
We’re so glad he did. It’s a great show and I know Andrew has some great plans for the future. Need a shot of inspiration? Check out this podcast and be prepared for a big dose of can-do energy.
Podcast SoundAdvice published 3 episodes. I know. Cobbler’s kids and shoes comes to mind. We published interviews with 3 clients.
We talked with Catherine Avery who shared her strategies around pandemic-related life changes. A productivity expert by training and a work from home wife and mom, her insights will resonate with you too.
She also shared her podcast journey and provided tips for planning and creating shows. Knowing your goals is required step one.
Next we talked to Patty Lennon and wow, did she drop some #soundadvice. She gets real about the fear around podcasting and I loved it! She also shares how she plans her show content and uses her intuitive skills to prepare before recording.
You have to check out the episode with Jen Lehner. We recorded this a while ago and she was working with us then. This conversation was too fun and interesting not to share.
She has the most interesting podcast start up story ever. Seriously. It involves Gary V, James Altucher and Twitter. It’s also connected to how she got Gary to record part of her podcast intro!
She also tells us how she got Seth Godin on her show. Not only that, he wrote an article about Entrepreneur Magazine forcing her to change the name of her show.
Yes, the company that says they are here to support entrepreneurs goes gangster on the very companies they purport to support.
Stats from the team.
We helped our clients publish 288 episodes. It’s an incredible team effort. We’re lucky to have talented editors, designers and writers as well as Angi who makes sure we don’t forget anything.
The team edited over 7,499 minutes of audio. Kelvin and the other editors do an incredible job. They listened to every minute of audio to make each show sound as good as possible.
Their attention to detail his this big picture person in awe.
Our clients had over 399,877 total downloads! There are a couple of clients that I couldn’t get stats on, so the number listed is the downloads that I was able to verify. Listenership is growing for all of our clients and we want to help them see increases every month.
Reaching more people and creating strong connections is why they podcast.
Podcasting continues to grow and bring new opportunities. Listener experience is key
2021 Trends and News
80% of people will listen to an entire podcast episode, or most of it, indicating that podcast listeners are very engaged in the content. However, in some genres, there is still much room for improvement.
What’s coming? Streaming content, potential for “live” podcasting and more engagement. Whew.
Micro content is also seeing a big increase. Kate Hanley, you were ahead of the pack!
Podcasting continues to grow. Advertisers are planning to spend more in 2021, estimating increases of nearly 20%.
